Mercury in U.S. Fresh-water Fish

The U.S. Geological Survey study recently confirmed mercury contamination in every fish that was sampled in roughly 300 streams across the United States. Of those samples, over a quarter of the fish had mercury that exceeded the EPA criteria for those who consume average amounts of fish, and two-thirds exceeded the EPA level for fish-eating mammals. Mercury exposure may cause damage to the kidneys, lung and brain. According to the study, Alaskan salmon is still safe.
