Fish Oil vs. Drugs

An Italian study published in the British medical journal Lancet demonstrated that fish oil supplements taken daily actually performed better than Crestor (a prescription cholesterol-lowering drug). Crestor is a popular drug prescribed for high cholesterol but has side effects that include abdominal pain, weakness, muscle pain, nausea and headaches. The study was conducted over 4 years on 11,500 patients that were diagnosed with heart disease. The patients given fish oil daily were less susceptible to death or hospitalization than those given Crestor. Research has shown that fish oil supplementation reduces blood pressure, lowers triglycerides and slows the hardening of arteries. Check with your doctor before taking any supplements for your condition.
