Natural Sleep Aid - Ashwagandha
Sleeping issues due to anxiety are on the rise in light of the worldwide economic downturn. However, there are some natural alternatives to prescribed med's that may help. In fact, a study from the Swedish Herbal Institute in Maine found that over 80% of women taking ashwagandha (200mg) prior to bed relieved their insomnia. It appears to lower the blood levels of 2 stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol which can be responsible for anxiety and irritability, while at the same time increasing their production of GABA (a calming brain chemical). Ashwagandha is a Indian shrub that had been used for over 4,000 years to help with anxiety.
